If you’ve begun the process of transitioning from relaxed to natural, you’re probably ready to either pull your hair out…or give up. Stay strong, ladies! Remember, a natural head is a healthy head; and a healthy head means stronger, longer hair. Just say, “No” to the creamy crack!
When transitioning, your hair is in a fragile and confused state; therefore, it’s important to try and use natural products whenever possible. Keep your precious locks away from anything that contains alcohol and parabens. Invest in a great moisturizer, clarifying shampoo and conditioner. Many women swear by Kinky Curly’s line of all-natural products; others are disciples of Carol’s
Daughter products. Each head is different, and it’s going to take a bit of experimentation to figure out what works best for you. Be patient, it will happen.
Be sure to pay special attention to the hair along the demarcation line; it’s the most likely to break or get damaged. Don’t be lazy: wrap your hair every night with a silk or satin scarf, and don’t use hair-bands that contain metal. No exceptions! Most importantly, when transitioning, wear protective hairstyles; the less your hair is exposed to the elements, the quicker it will grow.
