It’s that time of year again! The snow has melted, flowers are starting to grow and everything seems a little brighter. The world is starting to shine and so should you! It seems like there are thousands upon thousands of products out there made to make you glow but the best way to look like you have a natural glow is to begin with your hair. Want to know how to get shiny hair that will make you look like a warm weather vixen? Read on!

Argan oil

Argan oil is becoming an increasingly popular ingredient in hair products due to it’s natural hydrating abilities. It’s naturally rich in vitamins A and E which are both amazing for your hair! Vitamin A helps your scalp produce sebum, which is a substance that keeps your hair from breaking off. Vitamin E will protect your tresses from free-radicals in the air. Regularly using Argan oil in your hair will condition not only your hair but your scalp as well, keeping your locks nice and shiny.

Coconut Oil

This is another one of nature’s super hair foods. Coconut oil is naturally full of lauric acid and fatty acids that strengthen hair and condition the scalp. Coconut oil helps to keep hair softer and smoother, which is key to attaining that gorgeous shine; a hair shaft that is rough and damaged doesn’t reflect light as well as healthy hair. As a bonus, coconut oil possesses anti-microbial properties-in other words it helps keep your hair and scalp clean, which is another reason that coconut oil is an ingredient in so many shampoos and conditioners these days!

Carrots, avocados and fish

These are a few suggestions of things to go in your body-instead of on your hair! Carrots, avocados and fish all share key nutrients that promote healthy hair. Lots of people say that carrots are good for your eyes because they contain high levels of vitamin A; however no one usually mentions that vitamin A makes your hair shine as well. Avocados and fish contain omega-3 fatty acids that not only make for beautiful hair but a healthy heart as well. If you’re not too big on veggies and fish, don’t sweat it! There are a ton of delicious healthy foods that you can incorporate into your diet to make your hair shine.

Cut down on manipulation

There’s an old wives tale that advises us to brush hair 100 times every day to help it grow faster and be shiny. While research has shown that the massaging motion of the brush tips on your scalp can increase sebum production and stimulate blood flow to the scalp, over-brushing can actually damage the cuticle and lead to more frizz. Challenge yourself to see how much less you can touch your hair with comb’s, brushes heat tools and your fingers and your hair will be so much shinier.

Do you plan on using any of these tips this spring? What other tips and tricks have you discovered to make your hair shiny? Let us know!
