MoringaConnect  is unlocking the potential of agriculture in Africa by working with smallholder farmers to bring nature’s finest hair & skin care oil- Moringa – to a global market. They recently launched their hair & skin care line, True Moringa. Follow them on twitter and facebook for the latest hair tips, deals and updates from the field.

There is a reason why the Moringa tree is known throughout sub-Saharan Africa as “the miracle tree.” Its oil seeds are rich in anti-oxidants and anti-aging moisturizing agents, restoring hair and skin to its natural radiance. The leaves of the same tree, rich in iron, vitamins, protein, and calcium can help prevent malnutrition.

Moringa oil is one of the most versatile oils out there- and our users have come up with some creative ways to integrate it into their daily hair care routines. Here are a few of our favorites:

1. Moisturize and Condition

Moringa oil contains high levels of two essential moisturizing agents- behenic acid and oleic acid. For thick curly hair, True Moringa oil can be integrated as part of a LOC routine. For thinner hair, massage two to three drops of True Moringa into damp hair, starting at the roots and working toward the ends. True Moringa fan and NYC makeup artist Emma Strachman says,

“What I love about oils is that they embody the purest form of moisture and can be used alone or mixed in with any other favorite items. Using oils is one of the simplest and most effective ways to provide moisture to the hair and skin without feeling extra greasy. Unlike mineral oil, pure cold pressed oil mimics the essential fatty acids that are naturally found in the skin and hair. This is why True Moringa feels so luxurious after it’s applied.”

2. Detangle

Believe it or not, True Moringa naturally untangles knots without leaving behind a greasy residue like many leave in conditioners. A unique combination of moisturizing agents make True Moringa go on smooth and virtually disappear after application. Use finger detangling or a wide-tooth comb to assist. Avoid breakage and split ends while getting rid of snarls!

3. Strengthen and Shine

Check your labels- many oil-based products on the market are made up of more silicon than natural oil. While coating your hair with silicon may make it look shiny, it’s certainly not a long-term solution. Natural oils restore and strengthen the hair, making it shine- naturally. True Moringa fan and Sports Illustrated Model Jess Perez says:

“I’ve found that using True Moringa oil has really helped to even out my skin tone and it’s made my hair look really healthy and shiny.”
