The Evolution of Tanika Ray

The Evolution of Tanika Ray

I admired  Tanika Ray’s new look last night hosting VH1 Basketball Wives. She went from her straw curls to loose curls.

I always admired her style and eventried it out myself.

I suggest if you want to get these curls? Try getting a weave first or a wig to see how it looks on you first.

This may work for some but not all.

Here is a clip from VH1 basketball wives Reunion.

Jill Scott on Tour + With Maxwell

Jill Scott on Tour + With Maxwell

Jill Scott + Maxwell’s The BLACKsummers’night Tour  is described as amazing. Reviewers mentioned their performances as one of the most entertaining soulful events in the past decade. Concert dates has been extended until August. If you haven’t seen them live. It is a must.

At one of the performances, Jill Scott dressed casual in a jumpsuit, but her hair was fierce. She is one of the queens of natural afro curls. I admire her natural beauty.

I believe we are emerging into a new era called “Natural Beauty Black Woman”.  Black women are going back to natural. This may be bad for the perm industry. But oh well. Imagine Michelle Obama with a fro.

3rd Annual Gemini’s Give Back Event: Melky Jean Birthday and Carma Foundation

3rd Annual Gemini’s Give Back Event: Melky Jean Birthday and Carma Foundation

Last night, Melky Jean along with her beautiful friends, Ashley Graham, Trina, Vivica Fox, Patti LaBelle, Miss USA 2010 Rima Fakih, and her family (all 200 of them) attended her Carma’s Foundation 3rd annual Gemini’s Give Back Event with the celebration of her birthday.

The event was star studded and even had live performances by the entire

Jean family for the Haiti and Carma Foundation. Everyone looked fab, but I am really fascinated by the birthday girls hair. Melky Jean has been rocking this fro for a few years now and I love it.

It is not an actual “all natural hair” thing. She actually sews in fro tracks, sort of what Solange has been doing for the past couple of weeks. There is a new trend starting with these natural fro’s far black women. The fro maybe returning it’s cycle be to now. I believe Melky Jean is the originator.

Kelis is Orange

Kelis is Orange

Kelis, the estranged wife of Nas, performed at the Highline Ballroom a few nights ago for some Elle Event looking like this.

Amongst all the ethnic celebrities out there, she is one of the only celebrity that seems to always have a bad hair day. I mean can you find a photo of her out and about with tamed tresses?

If you do, let me know, and I will retract my statement.

Curlisto Christo is the Curly Hair Savior in New York

Curlisto Christo is the Curly Hair Savior in New York

Have you heard of Christo of 5th? Celebrity hair stylists that caters to the curly haired beauties? No?

Well, I heard of him about 20 minutes ago eating escargot in Soho and rushed home to tell you about it. The lovely lady who shared his information told me he is the savior of the curl for black hair, mixed hair,or whatever ethnicity that has a curl.

I know I am late as the Fashion world and every other magazine found him first.  But now that rock curls and care about frizz no more, I am making my appointment.

After passing through some of the flash annoyance sof his personal website http://www.christonyc.com, I discovered what a super star he is. He sells his own line of products called curlisto on his site on www.curlisto.com.

I am officially a fan, for now. I still need to experience Quidad. I think there is a little competition between the two. Anyway, if you are in New York, please go to his Salon and make an appointment. I heard through the grapevine Tameka is the one to go to in that salon.
