Miss Universe took place on August 23, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Miss Mexico, Ximena Navarrete, took home the crown beating out popular Miss Jamaica Yendi Phillips.
All the ethnic women with African ancestry straightened their hair. Why doesn’t at least one of them have an afro or show their curly locks.
It is the day an age where styles and the version of beauty is changing with in the black culture. More and more black women are going natural and becoming comfortable with their hair. Can we have one fine example of this in the pageant? I guess not.
This proves that the rest of the world needs to play catch up and change their views of beauty. Let’s get a real african women to show her full self including her hair. This ensures freedom.
